Girl Jacked Detective Jack Stratton Mystery Thriller Series Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Christopher Greyson Andrew Tell Greyson Media Books
Jack Stratton is a cop. We first meet him on a night shift where he single-handedly 'calms down' three drunken lumberjacks who were causing trouble in a bar. After a stressful night he returns to his apartment only to find a naked girl in the shower and a very pissed off girlfriend. The naked girl turns out to be his foster sister whom he hadn't seen for many years. She tells him that his best friend's sister has disappeared and he's the only person who can help find her. That's how the story begins and it only gets better from there.
This was a great book. A mystery that gets more and more complicated, interesting characters and great humor. I found myself laughing out loud quite a lot and I rarely do that when reading a book. I think that humor helped balance out the darker parts of the story which made the book even better.
I'm looking forward to other mysteries that Jack and Replacement solve together.

Girl Jacked Detective Jack Stratton Mystery Thriller Series Book 1 (Audible Audio Edition) Christopher Greyson Andrew Tell Greyson Media Books Reviews
Detective Jack Stratton is visited by a family member (one who he hasn't seen in years), asking him for his help in finding his sister (also, someone who Jack hasn't seen in years) and thus begins a mystery that is fraught with frustration, heartache, and, ultimately, danger.
I loved the character of Jack Stratton in Author Christopher Greyson's " Jack and the Giant Killer", and I'm even happier with him in this, the 2nd Detective Jack Stratton Mystery Series that I've read.
Greyson's story-line is interesting, his characters are well-fleshed-out, and his writing is a joy to read, especially with his frequent use of humor, which moves the characters along, nicely.
If you enjoy good mysteries, I'm betting that you'll become a fan of this series if you give "Girl Jacked" a try.
... now, on to Greyson's "Jack of Hearts!"
Troubled Iraq vet Jack Stratton, now a small town cop, has just learned that his foster-sister Michelle from years ago has gone missing. A younger girl from the same foster family, named Replacement, has sought out Jack. He now embarks on a desperate search for Michelle, indifferent to protocols and rules of the department.
The author has got hold of a pretty good character and story, but is rather ragged in the telling. The relationship between Replacement, now a beautiful young woman, and Jack is awkwardly told at best. Overall the book is compelling and lacking at the same time. Hopefully, the author smoothes out the delivery in future books.
Girl Jacked by Christopher Greyson is part of the Detective Jack Stratton Mystery Series. I really like the series. I am currently reading the last book and have read all the ones in between. This book starts with Replacement, a girl that was in the same foster home as Jack but at different times, coming to find Jack because their foster sister, Michelle, has disappeared. Jack and Replacement set out to find Michelle. She moves in with Jack and they start to get closer and develop a strong bond and feelings for each other that Jack fights. It's a good read because I like these types of stories. It could be so much better though.
Okay, so I am currently reading this whole series and while I like it, there are some things that are just too much. I know it's a book and I do allow some leeway but.. Replacement is the average height for a woman at 5'4". It's almost constantly inferred that she is so little and delicate but she beats up grown men? She is 19 but sometimes acts like she's about 9. I wish she should just tell Jack what happened to her when she was at the one foster home. He's supposed to be a smart cop but he can't figure it out?? It's so obvious.. And why is Jack constantly 'cracking his neck'?? I just don't understand why that is put in the books so much. And what’s the word 'crud'? Who says that?
I will finish the series because I like the books, they could just use a little bit of improvement.
Odd book, kind of a different character, in real life this guy would have been fired, real fast from almost any PD I know of, but this is a book, so I suspend reality for a bit. Greyson is a pretty good writer and he keeps the pace moving and there are enough surprises to keep the reader interested. As a reader you want to find out more about the characters and their relationships. While I enjoyed the book, I had a bit of a problem with the overly expressed anger issues which sometimes felt too over the top for the situation. I understand the back story as it developed and how it was central to the main character, it sometimes came at an odd time in the book. Overall it is a worthwhile read and I have purchased the next three books to see how everything develops. I do like Replacement and how she fits the story line and look forward to her character being explored more deeply. I hope that some of the stupidity of the character of Jack is toned down a bit. You can be aggressive without being stupid. It is a fine line that the author needs to find
This book is really a gem. I'd actually give it six or seven stars if they'd let me. I picked this up on a My Book Cave special, and it drew me in from the beginning. Wow. Jack is a complex character and we learn more about his past, it seems, in every chapter, but it doesn't weigh down the story. It is a dark story at times, but his goodness always comes through. Excellent book. My one negative, if there is one, would be that early in the book, the author mentions the police captain (or chief) and say that he's by-the-book. Then later, he repeats that when he's introduced, but that DID make me immediately remember who they weren't talking about, but normally, that sort of redundancy bugs me. There were a couple of those (once with the officer over the murder who was "just waiting for retirement" or something, but seriously, this is one of the best mysteries I've read. I especially appreciate that instead being lazy and dumping buckets of cursing in the book to describe Jack's emotions, the author creatively MADE me feel for him and made him a person to root for. Good job!
