Zachary is another novel I discovered by Black Rose Writing, who is rapidly becoming one of my favorite publishers. Their list of authors, and the genres they cover, is making it a go-to for me, no matter what I'm in the mood to read. But anyway, back to this book..
Jacob Pennington is a gentleman with supernatural powers. He has used his fortune to create Rampart Industries to protect others with paranormal powers (psychic, telekinesis, pyrokinesis, etc) from a group called the Circle of Benediction, intent on destroying all persons with these powers. The titular character is a newborn child, who has been prophesied to be the one to change the world. What prevails is a tug-of-war for the child.

This is a not-quite-usual storyline, told in a compelling fashion. The plot is nicely crafted, and the characters, both good and bad, are firmly fleshed out in ways that will allow the reader to picture then as real. The story itself was a fun read, but then...reality set in. About 2/3 of the way through, the editorial staff started phoning it in, and errors galore started showing up. There were multiple spelling and grammatical errors throughout the last third of the book, which greatly distracted me from the story's enjoyment. My grade for the story would 4/5, but my editorial grade would be 2.5/5, which averages out to...

Zachary Dawn Of The Awakening Book 1 edition by Raymond Springer Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews
good read
Although the spelling was atrocious, I'm giving this book 5 stars.
It was well worth the read.
This book keep pot me guessing all the way way through. I would recommend it to anyone that likes this type of books.
I thoroughly enjoyed this exciting and well written novel. Fans of the genre will definitely want to read this story. Can't wait for the next installment.
Credit for trying anyway...the misspellings, especially, were very distracting and annoying. I forced myself to get through the entire book but would not recommend.
The premise here is interesting, but why this is found under Christian fiction, is beyond my understanding. The group of special people do not acknowledge that their abilities come from God, and no special attention is given to Biblical principles, at least in Book one. However, if you can look beyond the misspelled words and sometimes poorly used words, this book is interesting.
When people began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that they were fair; and they took wives for themselves of all that they chose. Then the Lord said, “My spirit shall not abide in mortals forever, for they are flesh; their days shall be one hundred twenty years.” The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went in to the daughters of humans, who bore children to them.
— Genesis 61–4,
A cold was has been brewing for a millennium between two powerful agencies awaiting the birth of a divine being said to bring evolutionary change to humanity. Today, that cold war has ended and all out war has begun!
Rampart Enterprises needs baby Zachary to live because they believe that the divine child will be the shepherd of the Herminites - gifted beings that live within the walls of Rampart Enterprises. Through Zachary's leadership, it is foreboded that the Herminites will will clear the world of pestilence, hunger and disease. The Center of Benidiction, however; needs the baby to die because they believe that the Herminites are really the offspring of the Nephelams - products of the joining between angels and humans and thus a threat to the human race.
What will be the outcome to humanity should a race of beings capable of manipulating nature through divine powers prevail upon the Earth. How do we as mere mortals fair in that outcome? Are we to be perceived as disease harboring organisms to be cleansed from the planet through some Herminite sterilization process? This is the fear of the Circle of Benediction. We could however, profit from the Hermites as benefactors with the goal of freeing us from disease, birth defects, famine and other plagues of humanity - the real intent as the prophets of Rampart Enterprises foretell. Your own prediction to humanity's outcome will place you on either the side of the Circle of Benidiction or Rampart Enterprises. No matter which side you take the other side will be evil.
This book made me evaluate the paradigm in which I perceive “good” and “evil”. Although the book is categorized as Christian, I think that it can transcend its Christian rubric by those that can accept that religions are faith bound constructs that exist as strong ideologies with good and evil being cognitive constructs formed through our own lens of life. The problem is this, are we certain of what constitutes good or evil? Can you imagine a world without disease, human plagues or war? Sound ideal, but then ask yourself, how many people can the Earth sustain during rampant human prosperity. How close do you want to live to your neighbor? Without the four horsemen of the apocalypse galloping through the city streets it is possible that your your city will be so crowded that your neighbors will end up sleeping in your own living room and while eating the food from your refrigerator. My parting words are “nescitis quid petatis”; Latin for, “be careful what you wish for”
